Gary Player GC Overview
Designed by Gary Player and Ron Kirby, the course opened in 1979 amidst an extinct volcanic crater. It follows a strict walking-only policy to preserve the traditional rhythm of the game, requiring all golfers to be accompanied by a caddie. This is South Africa’s most iconic championship golf course. Designed by the legendary "Black Knight" Gary Player, it is widely regarded as one of the best and toughest courses on the continent
Topographically the land is relatively flat but don’t let that lull you into thinking that this is a boring course. It is not. Routed through the bush, past lakes and strategically placed bunkers this is a serious test for any golfer. The greens here at Gary Player Country Club are simply stunning. Some are shaped like kidneys and others shaped like clover but all the greens are well protected by cunning bunkers, water hazards, swales or mounds. Once you reach the slick putting surfaces you’ll need your finest touch to avoid three putting, or worse!
Lost City CC Overview
Fairways are generally wide open, however, don't get too sloppy because there's many waste bunkers that can take care of stray shots. Water can be found on many holes, notably on the par threes between the 3rd and 15th holes. not to mention the multi-tiered water feature that runs between nine and eighteenth holes.
The most threatening danger is located on the par 3 downhill 13th hole. There is the Crocodile pit (yes you've read it correctly the first time around; an enclosure that houses huge reptiles!) is guarded by the green's front. It can be a disaster for some players when a tee shot gets into the green - simply play a second ball and attempt again!
